Learning to relax with Acoustic Yoga
With an activity like yoga, the kids have a chance to both move and feel more comfortable in their own bodies, which nurtures self-esteem and self confidence. Especially for children who have lived some type of trauma, having space to move, breathe, and have control and discipline over their own bodies can be a powerful force in forming autonomy and independence.
With that in mind we called on amazing (and very patient) yoga teacher Carlylie to lead the kids through an acoustic yoga routine. The kids learnt to downward dog while Bethany played the violin in the background! Seeing the kids learning to control their breath was a
different sight to their usual, crazy energy. Check out the video below to see them in action!
